GlendaleOut Presents: Glendale Queer Glam Slam

  • Junior High, Incorporated 603 South Brand Boulevard Glendale, CA, 91204 United States (map)

COMMUNITY | FREE | ALL AGES | PROJECT:PRO+ECT  is a joint community effort to engage in actions that convey to queer and questioning GUSD students they live in a city that sees them, accepts them, respects their journey, and will fight for their place at the table in Glendale and La Crescenta.

Glendale City Council, state candidates, every neighborhood has demonstrated anti-LGBTQIA+ messaging online and at board of education and city meetings. Our kids are listening. But love also exists in Glendale. This is what our events and actions endeavor to amplify.

Glendale Queer Glam Slam is an event based on a request from a GUSD student, that they wanted to have a safe space to try on different clothing. We figured, well, if they are creating outfits why not have a fashion show?  So that, too.

Clothing donations can be dropped off at Junior High from 9/1 - 9/12/24 during regular business hours, 11-5. Arrangements outside these days/hours can be arranged with glendaleout@gmail.com

We are accepting all age appropriate clothing, preferably young and fun. Anything unused will be donated after the event.

Shirts, skirts, dresses, pants, accessories, unopened makeup, jewelry, hosiery, shoes, all in decent enough shape.

SAFETY NOTICE: Our main goal is to create a safe space for queer and questioning young people. For this reason, this event is only open to the young people interested in trying on different clothing styles/gender expressions AND their parents/guardians. If you are over the age of 18+, please attend this event ONLY if you are accompanying an LGBTQIA+ minor who is interested in participating in the clothing swap. The organizing adults chaperoning this event will be wearing clearly identifiable name tags and are representatives of GlendaleOUT, Free Mom Hugs, and Junior High.

Similarly, adults should refrain from publicly posting pictures and/or video of minors without the express consent of the young person AND their parent/guardian. Let’s keep everyone safe!

If you are unable to attend but still interested in supporting Junior High’s mission of cultivating safe space for queer people in SoCal, please consider making a donation below. You can also support us monthly when you become a Patreon member.

COVID-19 vaccinations are highly recommended to attend events at Junior High. Learn more here.

This event will be indoors.
