GALLERY | $5-10 SUGGESTED DONATION | ALL AGES | Perfectionism, public critique, and limiting personal narratives have stopped countless works of art from taking shape outside the minds of artists. This group show, Unfinished, brings together multidisciplinary creatives to embrace their process as the art, inviting viewers to explore how many ideas and drafts exist behind what we find in galleries, portfolios, films, and social media. 

Explorative concepts, rough drafts, notes, tools, and the rawness of materials behind each project are on view throughout. WORKSHOP | $18 PRE // $20 DOS | 18+ | Dance + Clown for Grief is a place to explore the intersection of the sacred and the silly. It reminds us to return to our bodies, offers us alternative ways to approach our grief, and allows our grief to process and move through our bodies while in community. We do this TOGETHER! This workshop offers participants different kinds of movement to explore, gives us permission to both laugh and cry, opens opportunity to share our grief with each other, and creates space to experiment with our grieving processes.

Join us for breath and body work, silly games, serious clown exercises, and some community care. 

Carmen Nikae is a clown and teaching artist with 15+ years performing and teaching. She holds a degree in education and a masters in acting and has been a certified personal trainer. She does not have training the counseling or therapy but in CLOWN. Clown invites us into Simple Presence and reminds us of our own ridiculousness. Clown is an expert who knows nothing and calls us into our vulnerability in order to build resilience. MUSIC | PAY-WHAT-YOU-CAN | 18+ | Sometimes the fragments make more sense than the line. BLUE, the first collaboration of SOUL (Saunders/Outlaw/Udoh/Lyons), is a genre-bending new work of devised performance re-embodying queer legacies of blues music through music, storytelling and improvisation. We will look to buried blues heroes of the past—including queer and queer-presumed pioneers like Elvie “L.V.” Thomas (1891-1979) and Geechie Wiley (1908-1950), Tony Jackson (1882-1921), Bessie Smith (1892-1937), and Billy Wright (1932-1991)—as we fashion a new blues for the 21st century in real time.

Where is our anguish, where are our desires and pleasures that threaten and repulse, where is the joy that somehow grows in inverse proportion to frustration and fear? By inhabiting and breaking the form of the blues, this work will locate collective feeling in twelve bars and beyond. It’s a song of survival. A song for those whose stories can’t be finished.

Currently in development, Blue takes the form of a blues concert and will combine the direct testimony of the artists’ lives (in the form of concert “patter”) and the fictional narratives that bloom from them in the form of experimental, cross-genre songs. Songs that begin with deep blues twist out of the blues tradition to take on new forms that reflect what the queer ghosts of the hidden blues past have become in a new queer millennium. Unnameable identities that found form in the blues become, in this piece, what no one could have imagined.

WORKSHOP | $30 | ALL AGES | Join us for a beginners workshop on Janyak, Armenian needlelace. Proceeds will be going to the Artsakh fund, particularly as they launch the Marash Embroidery training program. Like many of the Artsakh Fund’s initiatives, this program was created to empower displaced women in Artsakh with practical skills and an opportunity to materially reconnect with their culture. Created with simply a needle and thread, Janyak has been preserved by many generations of Armenians even through separation and displacement. Come learn basic stitches and principles of this ancestral craft, and leave with an adorned handkerchief and material to continue practicing. All are welcome, no experience necessary; new and returning stitchers encouraged to attend!

Whether you’ve got a green thumb or you’re just looking for tips on caring for your first house plant, Club Gay Gardens is the perfect space for the environmentally conscious and eco curious.

WELLNESS | $20 | ALL AGES + SKILL LEVELS | Are you interested in somatics, but not sure where to start? BODY PRACTICE is a monthly community space to come together and practice being in a body. Each two hour workshop is led by hannah rubin (they/them) of slow body somatics, and is grounded in body-based learning and guided somatic practices that support nervous system health, relational connection, and feeling our bodies in present time. Together we will practice therapeutic body-centered approaches to healing and body-mind-spirit connection. All bodies, genders, levels, and ages are welcome! Bring friends!
Please wear comfortable clothes and bring any extra layers that might support you in being warm and cozy. Bring your own yoga mat.

Students will be notified via email to pick up their fired pieces 4-6 weeks after the class. Student work will be food safe and ready to use upon pick-up. Pieces may be picked up during Gallery Hours 12-6pm on Mondays or at any Clay Date. Everyone will have up to three months to pick up their pieces- after which we will have to dispose of them to make space for new class work.

WORKSHOP | SUGGESTED $5-10 DONATION | ALL AGES | Join Jr Hi buds Chelsie and Eden in this monthly fiber arts meet up to practice your textile skills! Whether you prefer crocheting, knitting, sewing, or have never picked up a need (or hook) — all are welcome! The Sew Silly Crafting Circle will be full of puns and decompressing from the work week. This is the place to bring that WIP collecting dust in your craft basket. Bring a project or come empty handed — we will have some yarn and hooks to help inspire you to create something new!

Interested in sewing or quilting? Chelsie is spearheading a new Junior High commemorative project. Participants can memorialize their contribution each month by working on this exciting new community project!

This club is for people of all skill levels. Chelsie and Eden are just as excited to be teaching what they know as well as learning new skills from the talented members of the Junior High community. as there will be space for learning, teaching, and/or just existing. WORKSHOP | $25 | AGES 12+ | MASK MANDATORY | Looking for access to ceramics, clay sculpting with friends, or sharpening your skill set? Walk in at your leisure and join us at Clay Date! Here you can have 2hr access to 2 lbs of clay and tools to make your own ceramic sculptures! Learn pinch, coil, and slab techniques with one of our two resident clay artists Shea Smelser (@sheasmelser) for a loosely guided hand building class. No experience is necessary. Tickets for Clay Date will also be available at the door day-of the event.

Option to pay $10 to fire your artwork at the end of the class. If you opt to fire your work, you will receive an email once your pots have been bisque fired and are ready to pick up. You can pick up your pieces on Mondays 12-6pm or at any Clay Date. To glaze your work, purchase another Clay Date ticket to receive access to the glazes and for the last firing. You will have up to three months to pick up/glaze your works – after which we will have to dispose of them to make space for new class work!

COMMUNITY | PAY-WHAT-YOU-CAN | 18+ | Hua Chai (they/he) is a maker and educator of queer games, interactive archives, and computer simulations. They developed their MFA thesis on “The Yaoi Homunculus”, a speculative alchemical study of the fujoshi-to-transmasculine pipeline using game engines, sex toys, boys’ love comics, and performance rituals. MUSIC | $15 | 18+ | Stay spooky babes! Come celebrate the release of the debut album HORROR MOVIES with Bobby Guard and CHUCK on their tour across the west. WORKSHOP | $25 | 18+ | Fet-ish is a 5 week course on kink, bdsm, and fetish taught by Grace Vee, a Pro Domme of 8 years. The full course will cover everything from safety and protocol, to safe play and building a scene including demonstrations and hands on exercises.
