Hymnal of a Burned Girl | Art Opening

  • Junior High, Incorporated 603 South Brand Boulevard Glendale, CA, 91204 United States (map)

GALLERY | $5-10 SUGGESTED DONATION | ALL AGES | Join us for the opening of D.R.O Watson’s solo exhibition. Hymnal to the Burned Girl is a body of work that serves as a protection spell. Through the combination of ceramics, performance, murals, and video, the artist, Dionysus Rosalie Ortiz, creates a temple space meant for shelter, for worship, and for celebration of the mythical past self. All of the works together reflect on the person who was versus the person who is, as well as the space between those two and what comes afterwards.

D.R.O. (She/Her) is an artist, filmmaker, and educator. Originally from the east coast, she’s now based in Tongva Territory in “Los Angeles”. D.R.O. makes works using all types of mediums, from filmmaking to puppetry to ceramics, mostly as a way to explore representations of mental health, transness, and the self. She received her MFA in Filmmaking from UCF and currently works at POT Studio LA.
