Junior High is hosting an ONLINE anti-racism training seminar specifically for venues, booking managers, and promotors. Los Angeles and surrounding areas only.

Hosted by Ida Yalzadeh, PhD, this seminar will take an abolitionist and historically-minded approach.

Topics will include:
— Police independent responses
— Racial bias in booking + curation
— De-escalation + conflict mediation

The seminar will be hosted via Zoom (link will be sent on June 7th) including a 30 minute break. Please reach out (contact@juniorhighlosangeles.com) if you’d like to participate but the ticket price is out of budget — we understand the financial hardships venues are facing and our priority is making Los Angeles a safer and more equitable place.

After your ticket purchase, a short survey will be sent to your email so we can best gauge community needs + venue specifications. Please fill this out by June 1, 2020.

Ida Yalzadeh is a Junior High Board Member and an educator, and cultural consultant based in Chicago, IL. Ida is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor at Northwestern University. She received her Ph.D. in American Studies from Brown University in 2020. Her research and teaching interests include the histories of racial formation and U.S. imperialism, the Iranian diaspora, and media representation.
