What is the theme of your playlist?
The theme is a night out with Gia! If you were out for the night with me, this is how the night would feel. We’re going to have a rollercoaster of emotions, especially because I’m a Gemini so I always feel a million emotions at once. We’re going to have our peak party mode, we’re going to have our heart to heart moment. Regardless of where we’re going or what we’re doing, dancing in a friend’s living room at 4AM or at the club crying on the dance floor, this playlist has all the moods and feelings of the night.
How did you select these songs?
Most of the songs are ones that I’ve loved for years, mixed with some recent discoveries I’ve had on repeat lately. Picking the songs was pretty intuitive.
What’s the most underrated song/band/artist out there right now?
Alice Et Moi is a really sick French dance pop artist who I’ve been obsessed with for years now. I’m surprised more people don’t know about her, she’s so good!
What’s one song everyone needs to listen to?
Every song on Heartbreak County Volume 1 by Gia Woods, duh!
Which three artists would you invite to a party?
Obviously Madonna is at the top of the list. And then Cher and Gwen Stefani. Madonna would be the main bitch who’s the life of the party, Gwen would be the funny one, and Cher would be the mom friend who takes care of everyone. It’d be the perfect party.
If you could collab with any musician, who would it be?
It depends on the type of album I’d be working on, but I feel like Thom Yorke would be such a legendary person to work with. I think he’d be able to pull things out of me that most people wouldn’t. I also just love his writing.
If you could feature one of your songs in a movie or TV show, which song would it be and what movie/TV show?
I just started watching The Mystery Of Marilyn Monroe: The Unheard Tapes on Netflix. I would have loved to have my song “Fame Kills'' in the show. There’s a lyric in the song that mentions her, “Don’t wanna die til I’m a legend, another Marilyn Monroe”. The song is about the dark side of Hollywood, the sad reality about how fame has killed so many huge stars, basically everything that the show is about.
You can only listen to one album for the rest of your life. What would it be?
Probably In Rainbows by Radiohead. My older sister showed this album to me when I was little, I remember it always playing in her room and it became a big part of my childhood as I was starting to get into music. “Reckoner” was actually one of the first songs I learned on guitar. So it’s nostalgic for me and also still one of the greatest albums in my opinion.
What’s your most recently played song?
Reborn by Kavinsky, I’ve been listening to that album on repeat.
