WORKSHOP | FREE | ALL AGES | Garden with us! On the last Sunday of every month our besties Maggie Smart-McCabe and Linnea Torres lead a workshop/volunteer session actively tending to our Native Garden. Learn about plants native to southern California, how to care for them, and meet other cuties while helping sustain our very own Junior High garden!
Bring your own water bottle and snacks, all are welcome, absolutely no experience necessary.
We also HIGHLY recommend hats + SPF to stay safe from the sun.
Maggie Smart-McCabe has experience working in climate appropriate gardens that prioritize native plants, regenerative gardening, and building soil health. They are passionate about increasing access to green spaces where people can get hands-on experience connecting to land and plants in their own community. Maggie loves gardening and learning in community spaces, and they are super excited to show plants some love with other queer folks at the Junior High Native Plant Garden!
Linnea Torres is a photographer and has been gardening for two years, after leaving the life of 35mm. A self-proclaimed master of container gardening, Linnea focuses on her tiny patio in her tiny space. Her tiny patio is home to edible annuals, perennial pollinators, veggies + fruits, the odd succulent, and cut flowers to gift to friends. Her focus has just shifted to growing art. Linnea is excited to share DIY tips for gardening as well as a deep appreciation for growing your own food. Let’s learn together y’all!
COVID-19 vaccinations are highly recommended to attend events at Junior High. Learn more here.
