Creating space for multiplicity of form, material, and medium signals an embrace of juxtaposition, an embrace that is more crucial than ever in this contemporary digital age characterized by increasingly hostile enforcement of binaries. As such, this group show explores collaboration and creation of worlds beyond the normative ideal, seeking to dismantle the idea that there is only space for one kind of artist. Hard but Soft seeks also to extend the environment of kinship that has given way to this exhibition, beyond the space of the art gallery, into the everyday world.
