To Unearth: The Intersections of Scholarship & Creation with Gunita Collective [2:15PM-3:30PM]
Gunita Collective's founding principals have always maintained that in order to critically, and communally, remember, one must utilize the knowledge inherent in the work and processes of both scholars and artists. In honor of Filipino History Month, we invite audience members to participate in a workshop centered around identity construction and the articulation, or representation, of such embodied identities. Using a combination of scholarship and creativity, we will first explore aspects of history that have informed the culminated contemporized Filipinx body within a loose lecture format. Then, once this foundational understanding is achieved, we will transition into exploratory movement as a creative way to process such deeply entrenched information. The workshop will end with reflective writing and a community dialogue.
Bringing a notebook or journal with a pen is highly recommended, though we will have materials available on site. Consider coming with plenty of fluids and comfortable clothing for an optimal experience.
