"Is this the place?" by Frances Quinlan

ShowCard_2.jpg

GALLERY | FREE | ALL AGES | We are beyond honored to host Frances Quinlan and her work across the last 5 years, much of it created while traveling. Some pieces were rapidly painted in the passenger seat of her band's van, or drawn in ink, in rented vehicles crossing countries and spoken languages. Others have been composed from memory, or rather, from the various sensations and colors that have lingered after moments and cities have long passed the window. These works are attempts to recall and resurrect those unique and fleeting sensations that come from seeing a new expanse for the first time. “Is this the place?” coincides with the release of Frances’ latest solo record, Likewise, which features Quinlan’s self-portrait. The visage on the cover emphasizes the concept of a small moment somehow carrying with it significant impact. The singer is captured in an unsettled, yet level instant, as she watches the viewer both askance and inviting, willing to be seen.

“Is this the place?” is on display Saturday and Sunday from noon to 6pm.
