ART OPENING | $5—$15 SUGGESTED DONATION | ALL AGES | What does it mean to be on time for the big milestones or moments in your life? “Late Bloomer” is a visual confrontation of perceived shortcomings and the social norms that built them. Kelly Malka — a first generation American born into a strong Jewish Moroccan heritage — has consistently felt hopelessly behind. Her illustrations explore the “aching feeling that I’m doing something wrong: that I’m behind schedule, that everyone around me is moving at an instinctive pace that I can’t seem to uncover.”
“Late Bloomer” opens Friday January 7th at 7pm and will be on display until Sunday February 6th. Join us as we ask the questions:
What does it mean to be where you’re supposed to be? / Who decides if you’re behind? / How do you know when you’re “there”?
