WORKSHOP | PAY WHAT YOU CAN | 16+ | The Spite is a poetry form for writers who want to open the page up to a conversation. Maybe it's one they never got to have, one they wish they'd had more time to say what they wanted to say, or one that they'd like to alchemize into this world. A love child of the duplex and the contrapuntal, the Spite alternates single lines (for the speaker to be sharp and direct) and couplets (to open a dialogue between the speaker and the addressed.) At the end of reading the poem through, the text encourages the reader to go back and read the monostyches on their own. Come learn how to write a Spite, and leave with a new poem and a place to keep all of your leftover spiteful energy.
