⤏ A PLAYLIST FOR BRINGING BACK THE CLASSICS
⤏ CURATED BY EDEN HAIN AND LINNEA TORRES
“I'm so tired, Sheep are counting me.”
—JENNYLEE, “I’M SO TIRED”
You get to spend a day with three artists. Who are they and what are you doing?
EDEN HAIN: Courtney Barnett, Anderson .Paak, David Bowie for probably the sickest jam and gossip sesh of the century. Courtney Barnett may not gossip though but I could switch her out for Courtney Love.
LINNEA TORRES: Miki Berenyi, Kim Deal, and Mama Cass. Miki for AAAAALLL that 90’s britpop gossip that I ache for until this day, I want her to tell me how all the members of Blur (my favorite band) sucked. Kim for a nice picnic in the sun and Mama Cass to simply be in the presence of an angel.
What is the first song/album you remember listening to?
EH: Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus
LT: Lizzie McGuire Movie Soundtrack: the first album I ever asked my parents to buy for me. Maybe some songs in spanish my mom would listen to when she wanted me to help her clean on a Saturday, I would wake up with it blasting in the house and I knew what I would be spending my whole day doing.
You can only listen to one artist for the rest of your life. Who would it be?
EH: Tegan and Sara's discography is infallible to me at this point.
LT: This is an evil question!! In terms of breadth of discography I have to go with MF DOOM.
What is your most frequently played song/album?
EH: Of all time The Con by Tegan and Sara, this year GUTS by Olivia Rodrigo.
LT: At the moment it’s Shuggie by Foxygen and the cover of Si Una Vez by Girl in a Coma.
If your life were a movie, what 5 songs would be on the soundtrack?
EH: Survival Car by Fountains of Wayne
Nobody Like You by Echobelly
Trans Mantra by Ezra Furman
Laughing at Life by Billie Holiday
Split Lip by The Love-Inns.
LT: Si Una Vez by Selena
Strange Young Girls by Mamas and the Papas
Champagne Supernova by Oasis
Fool’s Day by Blur
Swamp Bitches by Doechii.
What’s a song everyone needs to listen to?
EH: Gramma's House by Wall of Voodoo.
LT: Not a song but an album, everyone NEEDS to listen to Odessey and Oracle by the Zombies.
