ART OPENING | $5 SUGGESTED DONATION | ALL AGES | Precious Negatives is the first solo exhibition by photographer and documentary filmmaker Carly Palmour. The show features a selection of simple scenes — both the peculiar and the mundane — that Carly has collected with her camera over the last decade. Vibrant hues and detailed focus illuminate these quiet observations and personal artifacts, creating a captivating photographic journal.
Carly’s book of the same name will be for sale at the exhibit and includes the collected works featured in the show.
Carly Palmour is a Los Angeles-based photographer and documentary filmmaker from Birmingham, Alabama. Since learning the process of film photography in her high school’s dark room, she’s used cameras as a tool for exploration and introspection — finding joy and meaning in the act of preserving the present moment.
For the past ten years, Carly has worked as a producer of documentary films and television series, most of which have dealt with pressing social issues such as the pervasive effects of corporate pollution and the shortcomings of Los Angeles County's child welfare system. Alongside her producing work, she is currently directing her first feature documentary and developing her next book photo book.
