FREE Basic First Aid + Emergency Response Training


WORKSHOP | AGES 13+ | FREE | This Basic Life Support class will teach you what to do in case of a sudden emergency if someone is choking or having a heart attack, how to perform CPR, how to use the AED after someone is in a cardiac arrest, and basic First Aid along with Stop the Bleed demonstration. For $40, you can receive certification of course completion from the American Red Cross.

Some of the images will be a little graphic, PG-13.

Please be early, as we will start on time. Wear comfortable clothes you don’t have to fidget with and proper shoes. Please allow for parking, spaces at Junior High are limited.

As a participant, you will be required to bend over and apply pressure to a CPR mannequin. The adult CPR mannequins are placed on the floor to simulate what happens to someone who is in sudden cardiac arrest. If for any reason, you cannot kneel on the floor please let me know and we will accommodate your request.

First Aid

For the practice portion of the course. You will choose a partner and apply various bandages:
A triangle bandages
Roller bandage
Embedded object
First Aid Kit contents
Earthquake preparation
Treating Bleeding injuries 

The following activities are part of the course, all participants will be wearing non-latex gloves and will choose a partner for the following activities

  • To simulate an unconscious person everyone will lie on the floor and turn over their partner from lying on their stomachs to a face up position, and then turn them over to the recovery position.

  • Open their partner’s mouth and look into the mouth to search for an object that may cause choking.

  • Touch their partners neck and check for a pulse

  • Choose a partner to wrap their arms around the mid-section and simulate abdominal thrusts.

  • Choose a partner to slightly bend over and lightly pat their partner between the shoulder blades to simulate black blows.
