FILM | $12 | ALL AGES | Line up: Join us for an outdoor movie night fundraiser to support Trans Defense Fund LA! We will screen “Paris is Burning”, named one of the most culturally significant documentaries that shared New York City’s ballroom scene — and the Black and brown queer and trans performers who shaped it — to the forefront. The legacy of the ballroom scene lives on in mainstream pop culture and in our everyday language to this day.
Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the work of Trans Defense Fund LA, a mutual aid group that was created in response to the disproportionate violence that trans women face. TDFLA provides trans individuals living in Los Angeles with self-defense resources and free safety kits consisting of stun guns, 3-in-1 pepper gel, tactical flashlights, window breakers, and an informational pamphlet on how to use each item. Through donations, we have been able to supply 730 individuals with safety kits to date!
This event will be outdoors.
NOTE: Due to CDC guidelines and Los Angeles county regulations, all attendees must be distanced 6 feet and masked during the entire performance. Tickets for this event are available in single person or 2-person pods. You will sit with your pod for the entire show, so tickets must be bought as a unit. For example — if you’re coming with 3 members from your household — purchase two 2-person pods. Reach out with any questions!
