Poetry is for Everyone | Teach-In

  • Shopify Los Angeles (Building 1, Unit 100) 777 South Alameda Street Los Angeles, CA, 90021 United States (map)

WORKSHOP | FREE | ALL AGES | Junior High x Shopify’s monthly "Teach-In" series is a revitalization of the 60s movement by the same name. Teach-Ins dissect entrepreneurial topics, while prioritizing participation, practicality, and accessibility. Once a month, Junior High and Shopify will host different facilitators across various industries.

This June, poet Alyesha Wise will help attendees take an honest look at what stops us from saying all that we feel we need to say. Together, and individually, we’ll explore falling in love with our loud by learning from our silence.

 Participants will be able to:

1. Write a poem.
2. Safely push ourselves to a level of vulnerability.
3. Learn more about ourselves through all that lives and breathes around us.
4. Tap into some basic elements of poetry including metaphor, imagery and my personal favorite, honesty.
5. Deeply explore the power of the imagination in self and in writing.

Teach-Ins will be held at the Shopify storefront in Downtown Los Angeles. There is accessible parking on-site with validation. Featuring coffee courtesy of Go Get Em Tiger.
